Flower Arranging Training as an Educational Tourism Activity in Subak Sembung

Abstract

Subak Sembung Ecotourism is an alternative tourism destination for the people of Denpasar city. Academics of tourismdepartement have an important role in establishing cooperation to design and implement one of the flower arranging training activities in Subak Sembung. The training participants came from SMK Jaya Wisata Jakarta, totaling 50 people. Methods for implementing community service activities are carried out in various ways, including: (1) Direct counseling; (2) Demonstration of resource persons regarding flower arrangement techniques; (3) Discussion of training participants; (4) Providing educational materials for training participants. The flower arrangement training activity aims to build an educational tourist attraction that is welcomed by the participants with the interest and interaction shown. In addition, it utilizes local flower commodities produced by farmers in the subak. Most participants stated that this activity was able to provide new knowledge for them and was worthy of being developed as one of the tourist attractions in Subak Sembung. The result of this training activity is that students can arrange several types of ornamental flowers that are used for decoration of activities, mainly supporting the tourism sector.
