The Empowerment of School Dental Health Unit Cadres and Parents in Preventing and Maintaining Dental Health

Abstract

This service activity aims to improve the skills of cadres and parents in preventing and maintaining dental and oral health at Kartika XXI-5 Tateli II Kindergarten, Mandolang District, Minahasa Regency. This activity was held on September 26-27, 2024 which was attended by 39 participants, consisting of 2 UKGS cadres and 37 parents of students. The service method is in the form of training using lectures, demonstrations and brushing practices. The target of community service achievement is to increase parents' knowledge about how to prevent and maintain dental and oral health including (how to brush teeth, early detection of dental caries) which is targeted at 80%, increasing Parents' Awareness to check children's teeth periodically at least once every 6 months is targeted at 70%. Follow-up of community service that has been carried out with an average index def-t = < 3. The evaluation of activities was carried out by assessing the knowledge and skills of participants before and after being given training. The results of the evaluation through the posttest showed that 94.9% of the participants had good knowledge and 92.3% of the participants had good skills.
