Introduction to Industry 4.0 at SMK Taman Sisw Palembang

Abstract

This research was conducted as part of a community service initiative aimed at enhancing the understanding and awareness of students, teachers, and the principal at SMK Taman Siswa Palembang regarding the significance of Industry 4.0 technologies. The project involved a seminar and outreach program led by faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering at Tridinanti University, introducing key technologies such as 3D printing and IoT software. Observations revealed a high level of enthusiasm among participants, though significant challenges were also identified, including limited facilities and the need for further training of educators. The results indicate that the seminar and outreach program successfully heightened participants' awareness and understanding of Industry 4.0 technologies; however, more effective implementation will require additional support in terms of resources and the development of project-based curricula. In conclusion, despite the challenges, SMK Taman Siswa Palembang holds substantial potential to integrate these technologies into vocational education, provided there is sustained commitment from all relevant stakeholders.
